HVYPAA
ESCYPAA X started as HVYPAA, the Hudson Valley Young People of AA. As with other YPAA committees, HVYPAA hosted events in its region, providing levity and fellowship to the local sober community. Our signature event, the Burning Desire Bonfire, just had its 17th annual iteration in August 2023! As an event committee we actually predate ESCYPAA itself. Indeed, ESCYPAA 1 was hosted by HVYPAA!
Transition to ESCYPAA X
In addition to being an event committee, HVYPAA is also a bid committee – every year we put forth a bid to host ESCYPAA, the Empire State Convention of Young People in AA. And in October of 2023 we were awarded host committee!
What it meant for us as a committee was placing HVYPAA activities on hold and transforming into ESCYPAA X, the host committee for this year’s statewide convention. We are excited to be given this amazing service opportunity, coordinating an event that has meant so much to each of us individually.
